About GAISE 2025: 

GPT-Lab at the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences (ITC), Tampere University is organising the 1st Summer School on Generative AI in Software Engineering (GAISE 2025).

The summer school will take place on 16–18 June 2025 at Platform 6, Tampere. The event brings together students, researchers, and industry professionals to learn about the use of Generative AI (GenAI) in software engineering.

The program includes keynotes, workshops, hands-on labs, and discussions focused on current research, tools, methods, and practical applications of GenAI in software development.

GAISE 2025 provides an opportunity to gain new skills, share experiences, and connect with others working at the intersection of AI and software engineering.

Registration Information: 

Registration for the 1st Summer School on Generative AI in Software Engineering (GAISE 2025) will open on: Wed, 30th April 2025 at 12:00 (Finnish Time, EEST).

Important Information

  • Early Registration Deadline: 31 May 2025, 23:59 (Finnish Time, EEST) 

  • All the fees are quoted in Euros (EUR) and are VAT 0 % (VAT will not be added).

  • Full registration includes access to keynote speeches, academic and industrial sessions, workshops, hands-on labs, coffee breaks, lunches and social event on day 2. Please check the schedule for more details.

  • Single-day passes include access to all sessions and activities scheduled on the respective day.

  • Registration is mandatory for all participants, regardless of the fee category.
    Registration ensures your access to the event and allows us to record important information such as dietary restrictions and special requirements.

Payment

The participation fee(s) are paid when registering for the event. The payment is made with a credit card (no additional charges). A payment receipt will be sent to you by email. Participants living in Finland and having Finnish banking options can also choose online banking as their payment method. If invoicing (bank transfer) is needed, please contact congress@tuni.fi. 

Cancellation policy

According to sustainability principles and to avoid food waste, please cancel your registration if you cannot attend the conference or the social events. For cancellations received by 31 May 2025, the paid participation fees will be fully refunded. No refund will be made for cancellations made after this date. No refunds will be made for no-shows. Participation that has already been registered can be transferred to another person from the same organisation without any extra charge. Cancellations and requests for refunds and registration transfers must always be made by email to congress@tuni.fi

Kalle Mäkelä

Eficode

Bio

Kalle has 25 years of software engineering experience across different industries. In recent years, he has been developing self-driving cars and generative AI platforms. Now, he helps customers use these new disruptive technologies in the safest and most future-proof way. He works at Eficode because he believes that DevOps is a fundamental home for GenAI adoption due to the safety net that DevOps practices provide.

Prof. Kari Systä

Tampere University

Bio

Prof. Kari Systä has been excited about software development since 1980. His interests have covered both technical and process-related aspects of software development. During his career he has worked both within academia and industry in varying roles.  The current research interests include liquid software, distributed cloud-edge architectures, architectural impacts of ML-components in larger systems and end-user programming. The current teaching responsibilities include DevOps and supervision of numerous master thesis.

Prof. Heikki Ailisto

Technical Research Centre of Finland, VTT

Bio

Prof. Heikki Ailisto is a Research Professor at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, specializing in industrial digitalization and applied AI. Over the past 20 years, his work has spanned biometrics, IoT, and artificial intelligence. He coordinates VTT’s applied AI efforts and leads industry collaboration at the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence (FCAI). Ailisto is committed to advancing AI beyond the hype, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and active participation in public discourse.

Tomas Herda

Austrian Post

Bio

Tomas Herda is an Agile Coach at the AI Center of Excellence, Group IT, Austrian Post. He specializes in integrating Generative AI with Agile practices in software engineering. Tomas contributes through research on multi-agent AI systems, co-authored publications, and frequent talks on AI and prompting. He has led agile transformation initiatives at Austrian Post and serves as the Workshop Chair for “AI and Agile Software Development: From Frustration to Success” at XP2025.

Dr. Aapo Koski

61N Solutions Oy and Tampere University

Bio

Dr. Aapo Koski is a principal consultant and founder of 61N Solutions Oy, specializing in the operational use of Generative AI in defense and security. He has worked with the Finnish Defence Forces and national security bodies on applying AI in mission-critical contexts, and mentors in NATO’s DIANA program. His work bridges strategy, architecture, and AI with a focus on secure, responsible innovation.

Dr. Matti Saarikallio

Digia Financial Products

Bio

Dr. Matti Saarikallio is Head of AI Transformation, Architecture, and Business Analysis at Digia Financial Products. He holds a D.Sc. in Economics (JYU, 2022) and an M.Sc. (Tech) (Aalto, 2005). With a career spanning finance, telco, gaming, defense, and industrial sectors—including roles at Image Soft, Reaktor, Qvantel, and Danaher—Matti combines deep expertise in software and business. His research on improving software-producing organizations informs his current focus on applying AI to deliver transformative value.
