ECTS & Certificate Instructions for GAISE 2025

Overview

It is possible to gain academic credit through participation in GAISE 2025, as the summer school offers ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits. These credits are optional and participants can choose whether or not to pursue them—attendance at the summer school does not require applying for ECTS.

Participants may obtain:

  • 1 ECTS for active participation in the full duration of the summer school.

  • 3 ECTS for participation plus the successful completion of both pre- and post-assignments.

Requirements for 3 ECTS

To qualify for the full 3 ECTS credits, the following components must be completed:

1. Pre-Assignment (1 credit)

Available from June 1st, 2025 Mon, June 2nd, 2025. Detailed reading materials and submission instructions will be provided.

Participants are required to submit:

  • A 5–10 page version of their current PhD research plan.

  • A 2–4 page proposal for a research paper related to generative AI that the participant is currently working on or intends to develop. Alternatively, a working paper draft may be submitted.

  • For participants whose doctoral work does not currently involve generative AI: a 2–4 page essay exploring possible ways to integrate generative AI into their dissertation research.

Certification and Academic Records

  • All participants who attend the summer school will receive a Certificate of Participation issued by GPT-Lab.

It is the responsibility of the participants to confirm with their home institution how these credits may be transferred into their study plan or reflected in their own Transcript of Records.

Important Note

If you plan to transfer the ECTS credits to your degree programme at your home institution, it is your responsibility to verify credit transfer policies and procedures with your university’s academic or administrative staff prior to registration.
