Practical Information for GAISE 2025
Welcome to GAISE 2025 — Summer School on Generative AI at Tampere University! This section provides you with useful practical information to help plan your stay in Tampere and navigate your participation in the Summer School.

The organizers of GAISE 2025 and Tampere University do not take any responsibility for travel disruptions, accommodation issues, personal expenses, or any other individual arrangements made by participants.
Please note that the registration fee for GAISE 2025 covers only the participation in the Summer School program as explicitly mentioned on the official event schedule. Any additional costs, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, meals outside of the program, insurance, and personal expenses, are not included in the registration fee.
Travelling to Tampere
Tampere is easily accessible by air, train, and bus. The city has its own airport (Tampere-Pirkkala Airport) with connections to various European destinations. Alternatively, Helsinki Airport offers frequent train connections to Tampere (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes). The city centre and Tampere University are within walking distance from the railway station.
Fly to Tampere
Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is located 17 kilometres from the city centre. It has direct flights from selected European cities. From the airport, the city centre can be reached by local bus, taxi, or car rental.
Helsinki Airport, Finland’s largest international airport, is another convenient option with excellent train connections to Tampere.
To Tampere by Train
Tampere is well connected to other Finnish cities by train. VR Finnish Railways operates frequent and fast train services from Helsinki, Turku, and other major cities. The railway station is centrally located, within walking distance to Tampere University, city attractions and is only 2 mins walk from the Crazy Town (Summer School venue). To Tampere by Bus
Long-distance buses operated by Matkahuolto and Onnibus offer a budget-friendly way to travel to Tampere from cities across Finland. The bus station is also centrally located. Useful links: Matkahuolto and Onnibus
Getting Around in Tampere
Tampere is a compact city with excellent public transportation options. The local bus and tram network (Nysse) covers the city and surrounding areas. Single tickets, day passes, and contactless payment options are available. Useful link: Nysse.
Getting Around by Car
While Tampere is easily walkable and well-served by public transport, rental cars are available for exploring nearby regions. Parking areas are located throughout the city centre, with both street parking and parking garages.
Accommodation
Tampere offers a wide range of hotels, hostels, and short-term rental apartments within easy reach of the university and the city centre.
Weather and Clothing
In early summer, Tampere typically enjoys mild weather with average temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. We recommend packing light summer clothing but also a jacket for cooler evenings or rainy days.

Free Wi-Fi is available at the venue for all participants.
