Application Process for Master’s Thesis at
GPT-Lab (TAU)

Step 1: Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply: This opportunity is exclusively for master’s students at Tampere University who wish to conduct their thesis in English.

Academic Background: Our students usually have a background in software engineering or data science. Other backgrounds can be eligible as well.

Step 2: Registration Process

Submit Your Application:
– Online Registration: Complete the registration form available on our website.
– Required Information: Provide your academic details, research interests, and a CV.

Application Review:
– Timeline: Our team reviews all applications carefully.
– Decision Notification: You will receive a notification regarding your registration decision within two weeks of submission.

Step 3: Selecting Your Thesis Topic

Topic Options:
– From Our Topic Bank: Choose from a curated list of predefined topics available in our Master Thesis Topic Bank.
– Propose Your Own: Submit your own thesis topic in the registration form, provided it aligns with the fields of AI and software engineering.

Relevance Requirement: All thesis topics must be relevant to artificial intelligence and software engineering to ensure alignment with GPT-Lab’s research focus.

Step 4: Getting Started

Assignment to an Advisor: Upon acceptance, you will be paired with a faculty advisor who specializes in your chosen research area.

Access to Resources: Gain access to GPT-Lab’s comprehensive resources, including high-performance computing facilities, datasets, and research tools.

Kickoff Meeting: Participate in an initial meeting with your advisor to outline your research plan and set milestones.

Step 5: Ongoing Support and Thesis Completion

Continuous Guidance:
 – Regular Check-ins: Schedule periodic meetings with your advisor to discuss progress and address any challenges.
– Workshops and Seminars: Attend exclusive workshops and seminars to enhance your research skills and knowledge.
– Collaborative Environment: Engage with fellow researchers and participate in collaborative projects within GPT-Lab.
