GPT-Lab Contributes to XP2025 AI & Agile Research Roadmap

Earlier this year, GPT-Lab participated in the AI and Agile Workshop at the XP2025 Conference, where researchers and industry professionals came together to explore how Generative AI is reshaping Agile Software Development.

The initiative, led by Dr. Zheying Zhang, brought together more than 30 international experts and culminated in the publication of a Research Roadmap now available on arXiv.

Key Takeaways from the Roadmap

The roadmap highlights both opportunities and challenges for the responsible integration of Generative AI into Agile contexts, including:

  • Tool fragmentation – addressing the complexity of scattered and poorly integrated AI tools.

  • Governance and compliance – ensuring ethical, legal, and transparent AI use.

  • Data quality – improving reliability and domain-specific value of training data.

  • AI literacy – equipping software teams with the knowledge to work effectively alongside AI.

These themes shape a multi-thematic research agenda, providing direction for academics, practitioners, and organizations aiming to adopt AI in a way that remains human-centered and accountable.

GPT-Lab’s Contribution

For GPT-Lab, this work reflects our broader mission to explore AI-native ways of working in software engineering, where humans and AI collaborate as partners rather than separate entities. Contributing to initiatives like XP2025 allows us to bridge academic research with industry practice and help chart the path toward the future of software development.
