GPT-Lab at Tampere University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Salla Westerstrand and Dr. Sebastian Sonntag to its leadership team, further strengthening the group’s expertise in artificial intelligence, responsible innovation, and technology leadership.
Dr. Salla Westerstrand brings extensive expertise in AI ethics, governance, and responsible innovation. Her work focuses on helping organisations develop and deploy AI responsibly while addressing the ethical and societal implications of emerging technologies. Alongside her role at GPT-Lab, she serves as CEO of Harmless Consulting and Vice-President of Sustinaires ry.
Dr. Sebastian Sonntag joins the leadership team with a strong background in computer science, data science, technology leadership, and entrepreneurship. As a Research Fellow at Tampere University, he has extensive experience in research, teaching, innovation, and leadership across academia and the technology sector.
Together, Salla and Sebastian bring complementary expertise that supports GPT-Lab’s mission of advancing AI research from code to society. Their experience will strengthen the lab’s work in AI governance, software engineering, innovation, and industry collaboration while helping bridge cutting-edge research with practical applications.
