A Brief History of Oliopäivät

Oliopäivät has a long and proud tradition dating back to 1991, when it was first organized by Tampere University of Technology and the local IT association Pitky ry. Originally founded to introduce the emerging field of object-oriented software development (“olio-ohjelmointi”) to Finland, the event quickly grew into a national meeting point for researchers, professionals, and students. Over more than three decades, its themes have evolved from object-oriented design to agile methods, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence, reflecting the rapid transformation of the software field. Today, Oliopäivät continues under Tampere University, maintaining its role as a platform where academia and industry meet to discuss current advances in software engineering.
