The Power of Growth, Collaboration, and the Opportunities of Artificial Intelligence

GPT-Lab took part in the UCSEdu project’s final seminar at Kalevan Navetta, Seinäjoki, where the role of university education in strengthening regional vitality, community building, and connections to working life was explored. The seminar brought together experts from higher education, development projects, and working life to share experiences and best practices.

The seminar themes included regional equality, student well-being, and cooperation between university education and working life. The discussions and encounters further reinforced the need for close collaboration between research, education, and regional development.

At the seminar, Vice Head of GPT-Lab Jussi Rasku presented the activities of GPT-Lab and opportunities for collaboration with companies, particularly through the Adopt an AI Researcher model. The presentation highlighted concrete ways in which artificial intelligence can be utilized in companies’ development work, experiments, and everyday problem-solving together with researchers.

One of the key takeaways from the seminar was the need for encounters and close dialogue – with universities acting as enablers. The third mission of universities – societal interaction and impact – is most clearly realized when research, education, and regional actors come together in open collaboration. It is through this process that universities’ core mission and societal impact are strengthened and genuinely connected to regional development and the needs of working life.
